The following notification is required whenever we receive a nitrate sample result from Well 4 that exceeds 10 mg/L, or if the average of the original sample plus a repeat sample exceeds 10 mg/L. We're still working on our blending permit for Well 3 and expect it to be approved soon.
This chart highlights our monthly water production in gallons. There is a notable decrease in water demand from 2024 to 2025. Thanks for your conservation efforts.
We are making the full compliance order available here.
Until the SWRCB approves an amended Nitrate blending permit Thunderbird CWD is required by the compliance order to send out this bi-monthly public notification.
We're expecting an amended permit to be issued in October, 2025. After this we can cease the bi-monthly public notifications.
Monthly Nitrate sampling began in August, 2025 as directed by the compliance order.

Quarterly flushing is complete for September. If you see a wet spot in your area, let us know anyway, it could be a leak (760) 403-3923, thanks.
Well 3 has been brushed, bailed, relined, regraveled and all downhole parts have been replaced. This will add 90 gpm to our production capacity. After the State Water Board clears the well for reactivation, we'll put it back into service.
Sampling results show the fluoride is at a 1.8 and nitrate is at a 2.7. These are good results. After being blended with Well 1 & 4, we can anticipate a significant reduction in nitrate and a smaller reduction in fluoride.
Thanks to the Board of Directors for their full support of this improvement project.
At the direction of our Board of Directors, TCWD is rehabilitating our Well 3. This additional source of blending water will reduce the Nitrate levels from Well 4. The well is being tested for output and water quality this week.
Semi Annual hydrant testing completed. We check all our hydrants twice a year for proper function and pressure levels.
We had a large leak develop on Sunday. I want to thank all our customers who decided to curtail water usage that day until the leak was fixed. A notice was emailed that morning asking for your cooperation. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Annual street valve exercising is underway and takes place all year at various times depending on circumstances.
Quarterly flushing of the dead ends was completed. This is to ensure the best water quality at these locations. Our flushing schedule is March, June, September and December.
TCWD distributed a Tier 1 Notification for a Nitrate exceedance. Well 4 sampled over the MCL for the first time. TCWD blends the outputs of Well 1 and Well 4 to reduce the overall level of Nitrate. We will continue to monitor Nitrates monthly and make operational changes as needed to stay in compliance. Pregnant women and infants should not drink the water or use it for making formula. On our Home page, at the top, there's a button linking to the notification.
